(by Paul Vivian and Rick Preckel, www.prestonpipe.com) Market Monitor – According to a press release, Glenfarne Alaska LNG, LLC and POSCO International Corporation announced an agreement to advance a strategic partnership for the development of the Alaska LNG Project. The partnership will include steel supply, LNG offtake, and an investment with respect to the Alaska LNG project. The agreement defines the process to move forward on definitive agreements, which will close pending board approvals by both sides. This agreement will include initial terms for POSCO to supply a significant portion of the steel required for Alaska LNG’s 807-mile, 42” natural gas pipeline. Eiger Express Pipeline: On August 25, Whitewater announced that it had made a positive FID on the 450-mile, 42” Eiger Express Pipeline Project to bring gas from the Permian basin to Katy, TX. Pipe will be supplied by Borusan Berg. Northeast Supply Enhancement: On August 28, FERC reauthorized this project to supply gas to the Northeast. The project consists of three loops; 10.1 miles of 42”, 3.4 miles of 26”, and 23.5 miles of 26”. South System Expansion 4 Project: On June 30, FERC accepted the project application into its formal Certificate Proceeding phase under FERC’s review process. The project consists of 14 new loops totaling approximately 291 miles. Mississippi Crossing Pipeline Project: On June 30, FERC accepted the project application into its formal Certificate Proceeding phase under FERC’s review process. The project consists of about 80 miles of 42” and 28 miles of 36” pipeline and laterals. Import Supply – The July line pipe import total was 91,632 tons which was about 19,000 tons higher than the license tally published last month. August licenses ended the month at 92,750 tons which was again well below the linear forecast published in August’s Report. Through September 15th, line pipe licenses totaled just over 50,000 tons leading to a linear forecast of about 101,000 tons for the full month. Carbon ERW, over 4 ½” but not over 16”, was the import category with the highest volume for July at 25,038 tons with a CIF value of $947/ton. This represents a decrease of $15/ton from the prior month.
