(by Kurt Minnich, www.pipe-logix.com) Line pipe prices decreased 4% in November with domestic prices down 4.2% and import prices down 3.8%. This is the 6th consecutive month of price decreases providing a cumulative decline of 14%, however, the Pipe Logix Line Pipe Index remains 143% higher than the low experienced in 2020. Distributor’s sentiment was flat in November with the NASPD Index at 45. Pricing expectations, as a component of sentiment, scored 10, which is down from 17 in the previous month. Line pipe supply is estimated to have risen by 5.3% in October to 161,400 tons, growing on a surge of imports in the prior month, according to preliminary DOC data. Oil prices were slightly lower in November while natural gas prices fell by 9.2%. HRC prices were down by 12% and the rig count moved up by 1.4%. Details are in the report.
