(by Rye Druzin, www.pipe-logix.com) Line pipe prices declined by 1.6% in September, with domestic prices down by 1.2% and import prices down by 2%. This is the 16th consecutive month of prices decreases, but the rate of decline slowed compared to August. The domestic all sizes ERW average price fell by 2.8% to $1,937 short ton, while the all sizes seamless average price was down by 0.4% to $3,988/ton. The import all sizes ERW average price fell by 1.3% to $1,572/ton, while the all sizes seamless average price was down by 2.4% to $3,059/ton. Distributor’s sentiment rose again in September. The NASPD Index climbed by 5 points to 43. Pricing expectations, as a component of sentiment, jumped by 12 points to 33, the highest since April, while inventory size rose by five points to 41, indicating slower falling distributor inventories.
