(by Kurt Minnich, www.pipe-logix.com) Line pipe prices were up 3.4% in October with domestic prices up 2.1% and import prices up 5.1%. Prices have more than doubled since the trough in September 2020. Increases in seamless prices continued in October, but price gains for ERW items have slowed significantly over the most recent 3 months. Distributor’s sentiment softened in October with the NASPD Index scoring 66, which is bullish, but down from a score of 73 the previous month. All components of sentiment scored over 50 except expected import volumes. Preliminary reports show import volumes at 101,000 tons in September, which is double the volume reported in August. Oil price and natural gas prices were up 11% and 8%, respectively in October while HRC prices eased slightly. The rig count was up 6% and the DUC well count decreased, again, and is now on par with 2017 levels. The details are in the report.
