(by Kurt Minnich, www.pipe-logix.com) Line pipe prices declined 0.8% in November with domestic prices down 0.7% and import prices down 0.9%. This is the 16th month of price declines with a cumulative decrease of 23%. The pace of monthly declines has slowed from -3% in August. Distributor’s sentiment has improved but it remains bearish. The NASPD Index increased from 33 to 41 in November, indicating a continued market contraction. Most components of this index have improved except for the trend for import volumes. Supply of line pipe has been declining lately with October total shipments expected to be 40% lower compared to volumes in July 2019. The rig count has declined 25% from the peak in December 2018. Shipments per rig have decreased to 158 tons/rig in October, the lowest level since early 2015.
