(by Kurt Minnich, www.pipe-logix.com) Line pipe prices were down 1.5% in July with domestic prices down 1.4% and import prices down 1.7%. This was the second consecutive month of declines, but the Pipe Logix Index remains 52% higher than it was a year ago. Distributor sentiment is in neutral territory with the NASPD Index having scored 50 in July, which is down from a score of 58 the previous month. Four of the seven measures of sentiment are now neutral or bearish. The rig count was up slightly in July while oil prices held over $100/bbl and natural gas over $7/mmbtu. Hot rolled coil prices are down, on par with January 2021 prices. Shipment volumes of line pipe were higher in June with imports totaling more than 115,000 tons. The details are in the report.
