North American Metals Shipments Continue to Slide in February– MSCI Metals Activity for February 2026 indicates continued softness in North American service center shipments, with both steel and aluminum posting year-over-year declines. U.S. steel shipments fell 4.5% compared to February 2025 on a seasonally adjusted basis, while aluminum shipments edged down 0.2%. Canadian service centers also reported lower shipments, with steel down 2.7% and aluminum declining 4.0% from the same month last year. The results reflect ongoing headwinds across both metals markets to start the year. U.S. Service Center Activity – U.S. service center steel shipments in February 2026 were -4.5% (seasonally adjusted) from February 2025. Shipments of aluminum products were -0.2% (seasonally adjusted) from the same month in 2025. Canadian Service Center Activity – Canadian service center steel shipments in February 2026 were -2.7% (seasonally adjusted) from February 2025. Shipments of aluminum products were -4.0% (seasonally adjusted) from the same month in 2025.
