CRUDE OIL WEEKLY UPDATE (Week Ending 05-23-25)

U.S. crude oil refinery inputs averaged U.S. crude oil refinery inputs averaged 16.5 million barrels per day during the week ending May 16, 2025, which was 89 thousand barrels per day more than the previous week’s average. Refineries operated at 90.7% of their operable capacity last week. Gasoline production increased last week, averaging 9.6 million barrels per day. Distillate fuel production increased by 131 thousand barrels per day last week, averaging 4.7 million barrels per day. U.S. crude oil imports averaged 6.1 million barrels per day last week, increased by 247 thousand barrels per day from the previous week. Over the past four weeks, crude oil imports averaged about 5.9 million barrels per day, 13.5% less than the same four-week period last year. Total motor gasoline imports (including both finished gasoline and gasoline blending components) last week averaged 747 thousand barrels per day, and distillate fuel imports averaged 141 thousand barrels per day. U.S. commercial crude oil inventories (excluding those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve) increased by 1.3 million barrels from the previous week. At 443.2 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 6% below the five year average for this time of year. Total motor gasoline inventories increased by 0.8 million barrels from last week and are about 2% below the five year average for this time of year. Both finished gasoline inventories and blending components inventories increased last week. Distillate fuel inventories increased by 0.6 million barrels last week and are about 16% below the five year average for this time of year. Propane/propylene inventories increased by 2.7 million barrels from last week and are 7% below the five year average for this time of year. Total commercial petroleum inventories increased by 4.9 million barrels last week. Total products supplied over the last four-week period averaged 19.6 million barrels a day, down by 2.8% from the same period last year. Over the past four weeks, motor gasoline product supplied averaged 8.8 million barrels a day, down by 1% from the same period last year. Distillate fuel product supplied averaged 3.6 million barrels a day over the past four weeks, down by 4.2% from the same period last year. Jet fuel product supplied was up 4 % compared with the same four-week period last year. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil was $63.84 per barrel on May 16, 2025, $1.47 more than a week ago, and $17.82 less than a year ago. The New York Harbor spot price for conventional gasoline was $1.990 per gallon, $0.005 more than a week ago, and $0.598 less than the year-ago price. The spot price for No. 2 heating oil at New York Harbor was $2.040 per gallon, $0.067 more than a week ago, and $0.333 less than the price last year. The national average retail price for regular gasoline increased to $3.173 per gallon on May 19, 2025, $0.053 more than last week’s price, and $0.411 less than the year-ago price. The national average retail diesel fuel price increased $0.06 to $3.536 per gallon, $0.253 lower than the price one year ago.

Pipe Exchange LLC (“Pipe Exchange,” “we,” “us,” and “our”) respects your privacy. This privacy policy (this “Privacy Policy”) explains the accepted privacy practices for our online service and product listings (collectively, the “Services”) found via our website at https://pipexch.com/ (the “Website”). Personal Information that Pipe Exchange collects

In the course of signing up for the Pipe Exchange e-publication and/or contacting Pipe Exchange via the “Contact Us” section of the Website, you may choose to provide personal information (e.g., your name, phone number, email address, etc.). We will explicitly indicate the fields designated for mandatory completion. If you do not enter the requisite data in the mandatory fields, you will not be able to receive the e-publication and/or complete the relevant contact form.  It’s important that you understand there is no requirement by law for you to provide Pipe Exchange with your personal details – the information you share with us is entirely voluntary.

 

We request that you provide Pipe Exchange with complete, accurate and correct details. Your failure to do so will likely result in Pipe Exchange being unable to contact you about your inquiries into our Services.

Information gathered when using the Services

  • If Pipe Exchange reasonably believes that you have abused your rights to use any of the Services, or performed any act or omission that Pipe Exchange reasonably believes to be violating any applicable law, rules, or regulations. Pipe Exchange may share your information in these cases, with law enforcement and other competent authorities and with any third party, as may be required to handle any result of your wrongdoing;
  • If Pipe Exchange reasonably believes that it is required by law to share or disclose your information in order to prevent, investigate, or take action regarding illegal activities.  In addition, to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims;
  • Further, your personal information may be disclosed as permitted or required by, or in response to lawful requests by applicable local law enforcement agencies or regulatory agencies, or agencies with responsibility to oversee and enforce national security;

Children’s Online Privacy Information

Pipe Exchange does not knowingly collect personal information from minors who are under the age of 16 through the Website and/or the Services thereon. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with personally identifiable information without his/her consent, then he or she should contact Pipe Exchange at the information described below. If we become aware that a child under the age of 16 has provided us with personally identifiable information, we will delete such information from our files. Further, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) requires parental consent for collection of data from children younger than the age of 13 years old.
