(by Rye Druzin, www.pipe-logix.com) Us line pipe prices fell by 1.1% to $2,242/short ton (st) in September, with both domestic and import falling at similar rates. This is the 28th consecutive month of overall price decreases. Domestic prices declined by 1.2% and import prices fell by 1.1%. The domestic all sizes ERW average price was up by 0.1% to $1,768/st, while the all sizes seamless average price dropped by 1.9% to $3,254/st. The import all sizes ERW average price fell by 1.3% to $1,391/st, while the imported seamless average pipe prices declined by 1% to $2,553/st. The distributor’s sentiment was flat this month at a neutral reading of 50. The price outlook was also flat at a slightly negative reading of 46. Oil prices were down by 6.3% in August compared to the prior month, while natural gas prices dropped by 5.4%. HRC prices rose by 4pc sequentially in August. The average North American drilling rig count for August was flat at 586 compared to the prior month.
