(by Rye Druzin, www.pipe-logix.com) Us line pipe prices rose in the holiday-shortened month of November on increases in both import and domestic products. The Argus line pipe index rose by $8/short ton (st) to $2,549/st for November, erasing the loss posted in the prior month and ending a two month decline. The import line pipe index rose by $12/st to $2,262/st, with most of those increases coming from larger diameter welded and seamless pipe prices. The domestic line pipe index edged up by $5/st to $2,836/st, with higher welded prices outweighing drops in seamless. The Argus distributor’s sentiment index edged down by a point to a neutral reading of 50. The price outlook rose by eight points to a neutral reading of 50. The US benchmark oil price edged down by 0.2% to $59,53/bl in November from the prior month. Natural gas was $4.47/mnBtu, up from $3.35/mnBtu a month earlier. The US rig count was 544 for the week ending 26 November, according to oil service company Baker Hughes, down by two rigs compared to the end of October.
