This is the 14th consecutive month of price decreases, with the rate of declines about flat with June. Distributor’s sentiment declined in July for the fourth consecutive month, with the NAPS index down by three points to 36. Pricing expectations, as a component of sentiment jumped by 13 points to 21, while inventory size rose by five points to 50. Supply and demand balance fell by six points to 38, while order fulfillment dropped b 13 points to 29. Inventory direction fell by nine points to 50, while new orders declined by 13 points to 29. Hot-rolled coil (HRC) prices fell by 3.1% in July.
