(by Rye Druzin, www.pipe-logix.com) The Argus line pipe index rose by $59/short to (st) in August to $2,814/st, the highest since May 2023. The Argus domestic line pipe index increased by $56/ st to $3,127/st, while the import index rose by $62/st to $2,501/st. Almost all domestic prices rose, with the seamless average up by $43/st to $3,886/st and welded prices rising by $68/st to $2,366/st. Nearly all import prices rose with welded prices jumping by 115/st to $2,012/st, driven by triple digit increases in medium to large diameter pipe. The import seamless average edged up by $9/st to $2,990/st. Supply remains tight, new orders grow US line pipe supplies remained tight, distributors said. US line supplies remain tight with 85pc of surveyed respondents reporting a shortage in the market, with the remainder reporting a moderate oversupply as the supply/ demand distributors index rose by five points to an under-supplied reading of 67, the most the market has been under-supplied since June 2022.
