This is the 15th consecutive month of price decreases, with the rate of declines slightly steeper than in July. The domestic all sizes ERW average price fell by 5.4% to $1,992/short ton (st), while the all sizes seamless average price was down by half a percent to $4,006/st. The import all sizes ERW average price fell by 4.5% to $1,594/st, while the all sizes seamless average price was down by 1.2% to $3,135/st. Distributor’s sentiment rose in August, breaking a four month decline, with the NASPD Index edging up by two points to 38. Pricing expectations, as a component of sentipoints to 36, indicating declining distributor inventories.
