U.S. service center steel shipments declined 1.5% compared to December 2024 on a seasonally adjusted basis, while aluminum shipments increased 4.3%. In Canada, steel shipments edged down 0.4%, and aluminum shipments fell 3.3% from the same month last year. Overall, the data point to uneven demand conditions as the year closed, with aluminum outperforming steel in the U.S. market. U.S. Service Center Activity – U.S. service center steel shipments in December 2025 were -1.5% (seasonally adjusted) from December 2024. Shipments of aluminum products were +4.3% (seasonally adjusted) from the same month in 2024. Canadian Service Center Activity – Canadian service center steel shipments in December 2025 were -0.4% (seasonally adjusted) from December 2024. Shipments of aluminum products were -3.3% (seasonally adjusted) from the same month in 2024.
