(by Kurt Minnich, www.pipe-logix.com) Line pipe prices increased 1.7% in November with domestic prices up 2% and import prices up 1.3%. The biggest price gains were with ERW products, where domestic ERW prices were up 3.5% and import ERW prices were up 2.8%. Distributor’s sentiment increased slightly in November with the NASPD scoring 65, up from 60 the previous month and indicating the market expansion is improving. Components of the sentiment index show line pipe price is increasing quicker than volumes. This coincides with the dramatic increase in coil cost, up 60% over the trailing 4 months, and suggests some of the higher manufacturing costs are being passed through the market. Total line pipe shipment volumes in October are estimated to have been down 3% while the November rig count was up 11%, oil price was up 4% and gas price up 7%. The details are in the report.
